L\u2019\u00e9chelle est libre, le format impos\u00e9 : une feuille de papier A4.<\/p>\n<h3>Les origines<\/h3>\n<p>Ce diorama a pour origine une courte ligne ferroviaire br\u00e9silienne vers 1890 entre le port de Santos et l&rsquo;arri\u00e8re pays, sur le plateau. Cette ligne doit franchir la cha\u00eene de montagnes \u00ab\u00a0Serra do Mar\u00a0\u00bb avec des pentes de\u00a0 8% sur une quinzaine de kilom\u00e8tres.<\/p>\n<h3>Le syst\u00e8me de traction<\/h3>\n<p>Les anglais, ma\u00eetres d&rsquo;oeuvre, ont utilis\u00e9 un syst\u00e8me funiculaire de traction \u00e0 c\u00e2ble.<\/p>\n<p>La ligne est d\u00e9coup\u00e9e\u00a0 en quatre tron\u00e7ons s\u00e9par\u00e9s les uns des autres par des replats (en portugais \u2018Patamar\u2019). Les c\u00e2bles sont tir\u00e9s par une machine \u00e0 vapeur de 1000 chevaux vapeur abrit\u00e9e sous les voies dans un local de 25 m\u00e8tres de long et 8 m\u00e8tres de haut. La vapeur est produite par des chaudi\u00e8res \u00e9galement sous la voie, elles sont situ\u00e9es derri\u00e8re une chaufferie \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la machine. Il est situ\u00e9 au lieu dit \u201cGrota funda\u201d. C&rsquo;est aussi un avantage, ici la hauteur est indispensable. Il faut faire des choix : le pont est rapidement \u00e9limin\u00e9, ainsi que le tunnel \u00e0 l&rsquo;arri\u00e8re (trop gros). Pour avoir une certaine profondeur, il faut mettre les voies en diagonale.
